Music is often an obsession with me. Anyone who regularly visits my blog can quickly understand my love for music. And I think most of us can relate to some kind of music. Maybe not in the obsessive way that I might or that others more obsessive than I might. There are many blogs out there that share music or refer to music.
Some of you might remember the "mixtapes" we used to compile on cassettes to give to best friends or lovers. They were compilations of memories or memory evoking music. I used to love making up mixtapes for my friends in Tennessee and would be thrilled if they would reciprocate with a mix tape of their own memories. Getting to know each other through the music we enjoy can be fun and very revealing sometimes. If we listen...
In many ways, our blogs are the mixtapes of our era.
Did you ever make a mixtape for someone? Have you received any mixtapes? Do you listen to blog links to music or YouTube videos?

ReplyDeleteI do sometimes click on links to music on blogs but for sharing, say with my grandchildren, I tend to use Spotify and sometimes even share whole playlists with people. I was in a cafe in Leeds and asked the waitress what was playing and it was her own playlist and she shared lists entitled "a good bop from dad's record shop" and "ur not indie,u fuck" - excellent. I like the way Spotify says because you liked x you might like this as it has introduced me to some great music...
ReplyDeleteI have included some music games today...

I mainly watch YouTube videos by people I know, or of songs to share as I did in a previous A to Z. https://suestrifles.wordpress.com/2025/04/15/authors-beginning-with-m/

👍🏻 to mixtape questions; have made many; received as well; and still do (though burn them in cds, or have playlists to share online)..

All the time, we even tell Alexa to play our favorites from the vinyl error...and the other funny thing about music is it can cause some serious debates over who plays the better guitar or has the best vocals in the band. Sometimes it's better to just bit tongues and listen to the other person's pick....We used to have a ton of mixtapes, then it went to CD's, now we just rely on finding what we want to hear on Alexa or YouTube. Just don't as me to Mentor on what the best music is.... according to my husband, I'd fail.

Can you tell I was in a hurry? Whoa look at those typos. I meant to say "BITE" my tongue and don't "ASK" me about the best music. Any hoot.... have a great day!
ReplyDeleteMusic motors me through many road trips. I love the Shazam app to ID tunes heard in the wild and on the couch -- I've been known to pause a streaming and get Shazam to ID a background track.

I've found myself adding music videos to the end of my folklore posts this month...
