The team decided our theme for this month's posts here would be a take "2020 visions of blogging." This set of weekday posts focuses on:
Blogging Hopes and Dreams for the Future
Blogging Hopes and Dreams for the Future
Maybe modern blogs will be more focused on ads. I believe that people who blog about their passion will outlast any and every blog that is mainly "in it for the money." Search engines and algorithms aren't great at factoring passion... yet. Here we have someone typing on a screen made of projected light. Maybe her blog is about her passion for robot meerkats, the pet of the future. And yeah, she probably has an affiliate link one can click to buy virtual treats for that pet. But will the company making the robot meerkat have a blog with regular content?
We're always more interested in the passions of people around us. We want to feel motivated by each other. So, yes, I'm excited for the technology side, but mostly I'm interested in a future of blogs filled with enthusiasm about whatever subject matters most to the blogger. And, hopefully, we'll still be around, doing a month-long blog hop to visit as many of those as possible.

Ads are those necessary evils for when it's your sole source of income. I've never really paid much attention to SEO and all that search engine hoopla. It's all about writing and sharing what I care about. If I'm not having fun, it's not worth my time. Life is too short to put up with nonsense such as SEO.

OK, now you're making it easy to connect, haha... Mirrodin is a world where metal is part of natural biology. What can we find there that we can use in our D&D campaign? I'm glad you asked:

For me, I love to write what i feel like rather than what someone wants me to write. hope the passion, creativity stays even in modern blogging.

I agree, people who blog about their passions are going to outlive the modern day blogger looking to nothing more than monetary compensation. Sharing the things that I enjoy with my faithful few is what spurs me on in Blogosphere, other wise I'd given up long by now. I've always had the need to share with others and before technology's social media platforms opened, I was heavily into global pen-palling. With the expense of postage I got away from that many years ago but I still reach out to a few of my longest running friends at least once a year and a few even have my cell # so we can text every little bit. The world beyond my four walls is now closer and easier to reach, which I love! Thanks for co-hosting this marvelous annual event!

Blogging in its purest form is modern. Yes Vlogs are more in vogue, but long form writing has its own charm. Today from Letter M I wrote about what Marketing & Communications guys be doing during this COVID Lockdown. In my post today you will see my COVID Mantras for Mar Com. Blog title : Marketing Communication During Lockdown.

ReplyDeleteBlogging for money. Only limited persons can do it. Most of us are in it for sharing our knowledge. You feel happy when people from far off places read the content and benefit from it.
From technology, I hope blogger provides a facility to download pdf file of the blog post to readers.
I like the bloggers who blog for the love of writing, not the adds and make money schemes.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of search engines that can find passion. That would be so useful when I'm trying to find someone who really knows something about whatever my latest interest is.
ReplyDeleteOne of my passions is mind mapping. I use them at many different stages of the creative process. Plus, they are great for meeting agendas.
M is for Mind Maps
ReplyDeleteAds to some extent are necessary as that keeps the blog alive. Money - perhaps not so important for passion.

I hope at some point that linking is made easier.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that blogs that go the distance will be more relevant to the human condition and not monetization.

I think you're right about the blogging for passion lasting longer than blogging for money. I'd have quit a long time ago if that was the only reason I blogged (either that or I'd be a lot more diligent and direct with what I'm posting). Nicely done, J. Lenni.

ReplyDeleteBlogging has helped so many find thier voice and passion, I think it will continue and those that rely heavily on ads will be penalized by the search engines because of bounce rates. I like sharing recipes that bring people and families together with good food. Hoping we can end social distancing soon. Until then, I offer tips for marindades and marintating.

I've been enjoying your posts. This has been a great year to do the challenge. I do not blog to create income. I am a fiber artist & love sharing my quirky ideas & inspiration I find "out there". The stats are very interesting. Both validating & ...well I'll just go with that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your work for this endeavor! My big question is why more artists (not the in writing) have not found this challenge???Just a few photographers and a few "art" blogs. What the heck????
