Ups and Downs ( #AtoZChallenge )

You never can fully understand how up you can get if you haven't experienced a few downs now and then.  If life were consistently going our way then it might get kind of boring.

How's your April been so far?  Has everything gone as you had expected?   Hopefully you haven't had to deal with any computer problems or sickness this year.   I know that some of you as well as I have had to face those difficulties in the past.  In other years I've had travel scheduled during April making the Challenge an extra challenging ordeal.  A few of you could be traveling this year and if so I hope you've handled A to Z okay.

But that's life isn't it.  Good days, bad days.  Smooth sailing, rough waters.  Sometimes you're feeling fine, other times you want to scream out of frustration.  If life didn't have its little problems then we might have to create them just to make things more interesting.

Look no further!   The Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is just the remedy you need to really mix things up.  You likely have run over a few bumps in the road, but you've kept going until you've reached this point.  We usually expect ups and downs in life, but life works best when we accept the ups and downs.  Since it lasts for a month, the A to Z Challenge is a sort of microcosmic metaphor for life:  Filled with ups and downs, but hopefully a darn good time for all.

Utterly fun!   That's how I see it.

  1. Finding pictures takes a lot of time. I easily get lost in the process.

  4. This year has gone fairly smoothly, thank goodness. Some posts take more time and thought than others, and going through my photos has been fairly time consuming just like Antoinette commented, but so far I'm doing ok. Thanks for all you are doing to help run a successful challenge!

  5. Lee,

Things are going fairly well this year with the untimely but not unexpected passing of DH's 95-year-old Dad last month. Health-wise, we're doing well. Soon DH will have his combo surgery on his eye which he's eager to get done. Hopefully we can close this chapter in his life before the year ends. Blogging life things are going well. Having my A2Z posts done ahead makes a huge difference on how well I manage the challenge. I'd have to say overall my life has more ups than downs. I've gotten to the point where I recognize the downs for what they are brief hiccups and it's up to me just to ride the wave until it passes. To say you're doing a good job hosting is an understatement. You're doing an unbelievably good job! Thanks for creating the ultimate blogging event ever, my friend!

    1. Cathy, you've been doing a great job at being incredibly organized.

I have to give a lot of credit to the amazing A to Z Team. This year they have made the Challenge go very smoothly.

  6. Today, I wrote about how to solve Public Urination problem by deploying ideas that attack the root cause. Have fun while reading it. There are some whacky ones

  7. Time is my nemesis. I actually planned ahead a little and started the challenge with three posts ready. Most, however, are written on the fly the day before-either on my train ride to work or sitting on the couch in the evening. But that’s okay. I have rediscovered my writing self and to that I say Thanks!!

    1. Laura, you're doing it the fun way. This year I've mostly been doing my posts a day or two before due date.

  8. After my first A-Z Challenge last year, I said I would write ahead and be completely done before 2018 April. I would enjoy the challenge by reading and commenting on other blogs.

In reality, just like last year, I was up until 2 AM working on photos for my post for today, just like last year. This year is certainly tons easier, though, as I am not learning how to blog while doing the Challenge.

Have you run into any major problems in this year's Challenge? No, just minor hiccups.

What is your most dreaded blogging hassle? Resizing every photo and creating the Pinterest photo. I use GIMP to do each manually. That is why I was up until 2 AM - I have a lot of photos today. I kept trying to get each one to take up less space.

Do you see your life as mostly ups, mostly downs, or a healthy balance of both? It is a healthy balance of both but I try to find the good in every situation if possible. I try to dwell on the ups and move past the downs. Easier said than done but I am generally a positive person.

Thank you for creating this awesome Challenge!

  10. I've not been organised this time round re pre preparation and pre-scheduling so for me it's been on the fly and under pressure! I've also not gotten round to other bloggers as much as I would have liked ... but all going ok thank you!

  11. Although I've had a few Unscheduled interruptions and started writing my posts late, I might reach Z Unscathed. Last year was the frantic year as I spent early April in hospital with pneumonia.

  12. I've had a really hard time this year keeping up with visiting and commenting. I've had a few migraines which ups the difficulty, but the visiting and seeing what everyone is up to is the best part of it all.

The posts are less challenging for me than in past years...funny how every year is different.

  14. I didn't get any real prep done ahead of time, because my theme - my husband's diagnosis with terminal cancer, illness, death only two months later, and the aftermath for myself and our two teens - wasn't even on my horizon until January. Every day I write a 50 line blitz poem and a bit of explanation, then add a photo or video.

It's (obviously) and emotionally charged topic, and still very fresh...

    But also cathartic....

  16. I'm self-hosted, so its definitely the technical side of blogging than can bring me down. I am currently trying to find a simple plugin, that is compatible with the most recent versions of Wordpress and Jetpack, that notifies readers when anyone has replied to their comment. If there are suggestions out there, I would LOVE to hear them!
