Last minute tips! The #atozchallenge is almost here!
We are just days before the Challenge begins. I hope everyone is feeling pretty good at this point and is ready to go!
Here are a few tips, in no particular order!
**SELL YOUR BLOG POST! Funny or serious. Intriguing or cryptic. Tell us something to make us click on your link!
For example...
--------------------------------------
Name: Heather M. Gardner
Blog: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
A to Z Theme: Zombies and the people that love them.
Letter D: Decay. It was bound to happen. How to remove those pesky stains.
Link: [Add link]
---------------------------------------
** Use the hashtag!! #atozchallenge
** While you're searching through the participants comments, you can either right click on a link to open in a new tab, or highlight/right click to open in a new tab. Either way, open links in a new tab so you don't lose the main page you're working on.
** You don't have to post a 'clickable link' in the comments. You can copy/paste a link in the comments. Either way, just make sure its to your individual letter blog post and not to your main blog page.
** If you like the post you're reading on someone's blog, SHARE it with the world.
** Readers may want to SHARE your post with the world. Make it easy for them. Do you have social media links on your blog for them to use?
**Make it easy for readers to leave comments on your blog. Turn off everything that might hamper them for April!
** On the Main Challenge blog, double check where you're posting your letter blog post. (You don't want to place it/reply under another participants comment).
GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!

ReplyDeleteHi Heather - thanks for these ... I need to get to grips with a few things! See you tomorrow ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHey Heather, thank you for the tips. Will really be helpful for newbies like us!! Can't wait for it to begin!!
ReplyDeleteExcited for the new blogging challenge.
ReplyDeleteDo we start Saturday or Monday?
ReplyDeleteApril 1 is Saturday. So ... Saturday! See you then!
DeleteAnd it begins!!!! :D It's 1st April here :D
ReplyDeleteI'm new on this challenge and just found it a few days ago. Do we have to have a theme? Or is that just something to kind of help with writing posts?
ReplyDeleteIt's personal preference. This is my 6th year and I've done it both with and without themes in the past. Good luck!
DeleteThe tips are appreciated. I sorta thought there would be a linky for each letter of the alphabet to join. I didn't understand that we are to add our signature in the comments each day. While I see this might help sell your blog posts but I think it might get a bit hairy trying to filter through the hundreds maybe thousands of comments to find those of interest. I'm eager to see how this works and if it actually will work out for the best. :) I'm eager to get my 4th year of the challenge started with #AprilA2Z Art Sketching Through The Alphabet
ReplyDeleteAnd I am off....with todays INTRO into the A-Z challenge. LINK
ReplyDeleteHeather, you might want to mention that this blog is being simulcast (as of about 2 PM EDT yesterday) on Wordpress at http://atozchallenge.wordpress.com. We set that up because Wordpress people were having trouble leaving comments here, because it would appear that the only commenting option that works for Blogger is using your Google account. I hope they change that, or at least fix the OpenID option so that people who don't have or don't want a Google account can comment.

Why would WordPress people have difficulty leaving comments here? (I'm a WordPress person; I'm just curious.)
DeleteGoogle, who runs Blogger, seems to have turned off commenting for anyone who doesn't use a Google ID. You have a Blogger profile (as I do), which is why you don't have any trouble commenting.
DeletePassionate about books, learning and teaching - recently retired from teaching after 33 years, 13 degrees, 5 national awards and a personal library of 7500 books - that being said, haven't a clue how I'll do this, but I love to learn new things, and may learn a little more about myself - love visiting bookstores and learning about the people and their passions - live in a beautiful area that's always on the Book City USA listing, Traverse City, MI.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....thank you!
