Are YOU ready to cruise through the 2016 A-Z Challenge list? If you're like most of us, you didn't make the total rounds during April. Now's your chance to catch up to some of the great bloggers who posted during the 7th annual Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. And the good news is that we've got the rest of this year to do our road trippin'.
Thanks to the late great Tina Downey at Life is Good and Shannon Lawrence at The Warrior Muse who started the Road Trip (formerly known as the Post-Challenge Challenge) -- by calling on each other to visit all of the blogs on the list before the next A-Z Challenge rolled around -- we now have this year-round event to stay active in the blogosphere during the "off-season."
Now I invite you to join us on the 6th annual Post-Challenge Road Trip, a meandering journey through the 2016 list of A-Z participants, at your own pace, with your own rules, and very few expectations.
The most important thing to keep in mind is you're the boss of you're own schedule and approach to visiting blogs. Whether you want to visit one new blog on a daily basis or hundreds of blogs per day, you're the one at the wheel. The Road Trip is really just some buddies in the blogging community hanging out and visiting new voices in the A-Z world.
A few strategies that may have worked for Road Trippers include...
- Visiting all the blogs with similar topics or categories as yours
- Visiting all the blogs whose names make you curious
- Visiting all the blogs at even (or odd) numbers on the list
- Start from where you left off and keep on truckin'...
- Visiting blogs that are low (or high, or in the middle) on the list
- Visiting blogs randomly by just clicking on titles located in different areas of the list
Whatever you do, remember that signing up on the linky doesn't mean you're committed to visiting ALL of the blogs on the list. Coming along with us on this Road Trip just indicates that you're not done yet and would like to show your fellow A-Z participants some visiting and commenting love. These are among the things that keep a blogging community strong. In your blog travels, if you run across any bad links on the list please let us know (contact info at tab)--we've tried cleaning up the list, but there still may be some bad links in there.

Thanks! I'm going to give it another try. Last time, I signed up, then forgot. P.S. Got my A to Z Survivor mug last week!
ReplyDeleteA mug would be nice, but right now we have so many mugs in our house it would just be more stuff. My wife's a teacher so she's always getting mugs from students. Maybe you can post a photo with you and your mug. I got a T-shirt and I guess I'll post a picture eventually.
DeleteWelcome to the road trip. doesn't take much. Just visit people on the A to Z list and tell them you're dropping in from the Road Trip.

I was thinking of posting a photo. One of these days...You're right though, just more stuff, but then, I like stuff. :)
DeleteI got a mug too! Love different mugs. Then I don't have to do the dishes so often :)
DeleteWhat a fun idea! I'll grab my A to Z Challenge 2016 mug and have some coffee while reading new blogs and making more friends. Yay!
ReplyDeleteJanet, ooo! Another mug! Lot's of visiting to do before the end of the year. I'm still finding interesting sites.

Will give it a try this year,

Yvonne, sure, might as well. It's not like a heavy duty commitment or anything like that.

I'm thinking one blog a day? Now to figure out how to pick 'em :) This was my first challenge ever and I loved it--
ReplyDeleteOne blog a day or one a week or as many as you want whenever. It's your journey so you can set your own pace.

I have never made it all the way through the list! I must say, I have seen many very good, exceptional blogs this year. Not all have been my particular cup of tea, but that's fine too.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, blogging at Life & Faith in Caneyhead
Barbara, truth be told I can't say that I've ever made it through every list other than the first one that only had less than 100 bloggers signed on. I agree that there was some high quality this year which might bode well for the A to Z future.

This is a really good idea. I felt so bad for not visiting more blogs in April and I thought I was too late to make it up. Good to know we can all still show some love and check out other participants. Plus, I might get some ideas for net years challenge :)
ReplyDeleteLisa @ Zen and Pi // Come say hello :)
Lisa, the list is so huge that no one can adequately go through and actually read and get to know some of the great bloggers who participate. Also, getting ideas for next year as well as your regular blogging is not a bad idea.

Hi Lee - the Road trip was an amazing idea and keeps the Challenge up front ... I miss Tina enormously .. keep thinking about her ... especially when Vikings are around!! I'll be back next year for the A-Z .. all being well and sorted ... it is good to get a chance to see new bloggers ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary, thanks for the props for the Challenge. Yes, Tina really added a dimension to the Challenge that took it to a higher level. It's good to be able to take an opportunity or two throughout the year to catch up to the bloggers we missed on the first April go around.

Each year I aim to do the Road trip. Most years I fail. This year I've set myself up to post about it on the nearest Wednesday to the 15th of the month. Maybe it'll help. Good luck, everybody!
ReplyDeleteJemima, just a few blogs a day or week will get you through a lot of the list by the end of the year. Who knows what new great blogs you'll discover!

Yay! I've been waiting for this, but am actually glad that we took off the month of May - it was a horrendous month for me. I look forward to visiting as many blogs as possible this year. I attempted it last year but life got in the way. This year my goal is one to two blogs per week, reading straight through their a2zs.
ReplyDeleteLori blogging @ As the Fates Would Have It & Promptly Written
Ravyne, yes, we got a slower start this year, but it was a good time to rest, recuperate, and get geared up for the blogging road ahead. Relax enjoy the journey ahead of you. I like your plan. Everyone's got the plan that works best for them. Good luck and have fun!

I look forward to this. Last time, I didn't get to half of the blogs that I wanted to visit, so this year I hope to get a little farther.

Pat, I never get as far as I want, but what I do achieve is an adventure.

So in hopes that the cleaned up list eliminates those who signed up but never continued or dropped out early. I visited hundreds and hundreds of blogs and always groaned when taking time and finding one of these scenarios. I plan to start all over again discovering the blogs I missed, giving a second change to those I visited, but didn't follow. Here's to a great road trip.
ReplyDeleteStepheny, we are still trying to figure out the best way to start with a cleaner list and to keep it clean. It's a chore to keep the list accurate and free of dud blogs, but we try. Let us know if you run across any more and we'll try to eliminate the link from the list.
DeleteHave fun and may your "travels" be fruitful.

ReplyDeleteCarol, now you can take the whole rest of the year to finish the list!

Hi, sorry but my link on #37 has gone wrong. I added #45. Big apologies. Despite this annoyance I have spent nearly all day visiting blogs on the right hand side. Left hand for next trip. Fran
ReplyDeleteThanks for fixing it. 😀😀😀

It is good idea. Engaging the bloggers throughout the year. Understanding about the blogs will improve and also relationships among community members.

ReplyDeleteI've been receiving emails from Blogging from A to Z for a couple of months. I have read a few posts, but this will be my first time participating. I'm looking forward to reading new blogs & meeting new friends. :)
ReplyDeleteQuick question. Once you've visited a blog is the link supposed to stay blue indicating you've been there? I got on today and most of the links I'd visited were not blue any more. I ended up visiting a couple I'd already visited and commented on.

I'm not sure exactly how this works. The blue might change if you clear browsing history of something of that nature. Maybe someone else has a better answer because I honestly don't know. Links that I've visited on the list are still blue.
