Howdy Neighbour!

I know what I'm about to say has been said a time or two before, but it bears repeating. One of the things that makes the A-Z Blogging Challenge most enjoyable is the interaction with other persons doing April.

We're creatures of habit and tend to visit those we're friendly with first. Mixing that up a little means engaging other people, visiting their blogs before stopping in with our friends. While not everybody is going to reciprocate your stopover, there will be at least a few persons who will return the favour.

Nothing disturbs me more on the Challenge trail than finding blogs without comments and a few persons may give up, not only because they run out of steam, but because blogging is no fun without the comments from visitors. It's okay to leave enough feedback to let the blogger know you've been and that you've read their post.

Let's try and do as much as we can before the actual Challenge so that we'll have more time to make the rounds and meet new friends.

So are you game?

I know I am.

  1. You brought up great points here and I especially like that you mentioned about leaving something in the comment that you had read their post. I don't like "fly by" comments where you know someone just stopped by and didn't really read what you had written. I think at least a skim through an entry is polite before one leaves a comment. Just my thoughts about it :)

    1. I agree with you both. I'd want to know someone read what I'd written rather than just flying by and leaving a meaningless comment.

  2. I'm sure most people skim blog posts. It has to be a good post for me to read it through, and I really appreciate it when I find bloggers who take the time to create interesting content. It's not easy. And I really appreciate comments that actually connect with me and what I write. Thanks JL!

    2. Yup, if they are too long it's hard to stay engaged but I do my best and yes, it's great when the comments speak to what's been written.

  3. The blogging challenge is like a giant cocktail party with cake. Stop and take a moment to get to know someone and then say something nice. You'll feel good and so will they.

  9. Great post and reminder, J.L. I have made it my mission this year to visit as many blogs as possible. I am going through the list now, following as many blogs as I can. I have one HUGE concern though. Many of the blogs out there do not have a "follow by email" button. This means that they will end up in a Bookmark folder and I may or may not get around to visiting them during the challenge. Another concern is that many bloggers do not have an ARCHIVE list. This will make sifting through endless post hard days, weeks and months later when I DO get around to reading their blogs. Just a heads up people. If you want your blogs read, make them reader friendly!

  10. Well written. I certainly will visit other blogs and comment. Unfortunately I can't start now as I am occupied with writing201 and I have to work on my writing and to visit my classmate's blogs at the moment. The course will be over at the end of the month and then from March I will start. Have fun!
