A-Z Theme Reveal Blogfest!
In its second year, the A-Z Theme Reveal Blogfest is a "hop within a hop" - an opportunity to join with other A-Z'ers to share what your theme for the month will be (if you have one, which you totally don't have to do. We <3 pantsers too!). This year the big day is March 21st! Hope to see you there!
Insecure Writer's Support Group
This is a great group of people, sponsored by Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, whose goal is to help one another, "rock the neurotic writing world." Known as IWSG, this hop happens the first Wednesday of every month. If you've ever worried if you're the only writer who feels nervous, insecure, insufficient, or just plain weird, this is the group that will tell you that you are NOT alone. And they'll tell you in funny, insightful and wonderfully supportive ways.
Blog Blitz
Hosted by the incredibly kind and talented (and previous A-Z co-host!) DL Hammons, the Blog Blitz is an opportunity to show lucky bloggers some love, in a BIG way. Periodically DL will select a member or two of the team and email everyone their website, and then we ALL show up and leave comment love on that person's most recent post, on the same day. It's a great way to meet new bloggers, and who knows? You might get selected and have your day in the sun! (Co-host AJ was selected last April and can verify - it's quite the rush!)
Here are a couple of smaller, weekly hops that we think are pretty rad:
- For all you movie buffs, co-host Nicole hosts the Monday Movie Meme.
- On Fridays you can join VikLit in Celebrating the Small Things.
- And if you want to take Saturday as a bit of a rest day, join Cate for Six Word Saturday.
And if you're really searching for something to do, several of the co-hosts are not only great bloggers, but also have books published!
- Alex recently had some exciting success with his book CassaFire, but make sure to check out CassaStar and CassaStorm, too!
- MJ has two collections of her flash fiction, FlashTyme volume I and volume II. She also wrote Beyond Our Words, reflections on Catholic prayers, and The Merciful Victory of the Cross, which is reflections on the Stations of the Cross.
- AJ wrote an interactive fiction book (think Choose Your Own Adventure) called Armageddon: Pick Your Plot, which pits you against apocalyptic events from fire hurricanes to nanobots to alien invasions.
- Jeremy has several art books including Retro-Zombie: Art & Words, which is both a coloring book and poetry compilation. So cool!
- Stephen has published the first two books in his Breakthrough Trilogy: Breakthrough and Opening. Check them out before the final book, Escalation, comes out on March 10th!
What are your favorite blog hops? We know some of our participants are authors and artists, too - take this opportunity to share a link to your work!
We have a talented group here for sure. And there is also the monthly Writers4Writers (W4W), although it has been suspended until after A to Z.
ReplyDeleteSo many fun blog hops and talent, all with just a few clicks of the button. Thanks for posting this, Ayjay!
ReplyDeleteWhat Stephen said! Thanks for mentioning my books and the IWSG.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to be tempted into doing anything else (yet), but I can be persuaded with money and ice cream. . . . . . . . . . . . or just ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of IWSG and I've joined Blog Blitz and Theme Reveal. Next month is National Wormhole thingy. Fun times.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those 'schedules multiple posts in advance' people so it makes it impossible for me to join blog hops. Hope you all have fun with it though! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a wealth of talent here and extremely helpful and kind too.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
You've covered some good stuff here.

Tossing It Out
Thank you for including the BLOG BLITZ in such an incredible list. What started out as something so simple...almost child-like...has truly blossomed. Color me humbled! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a group of talented people you all are! I love the Blog Blitz concept!
ReplyDeleteThere's so many fun groups to join! I highly encourage you to get involved in as many of these as you can handle especially if you're a new blogger. It's the easiest way to meet more bloggers, make more connections, make more friends, and feel like you're truly a part of this amazing community!

A to Z Team @ Blogging From A to Z April Challenge 2014
Lovely list of blog hops and I'm proud of the cohost team -- so talented and hardworking.
ReplyDeleteOff to check out some of the links.
Blog hops have become a great way for this new blogger to find other bloggers to follow and interact with. It really helps ease a newbie into the community.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
I'm part of a small blog hop. (More like a blog chain, really.) Each week a writer features the short biography and links of the writer before them, then has their own short bio and links, answers 4 questions about their writing, and then introduces two other writers (which follow this pattern the next week). It's a great chance to expose readers to writers they might not have met otherwise, which makes it an obvious opportunity for writers.
ReplyDeleteI'm up next week (Monday the 3rd), but have yet to find 2 writers who wish to be "hopped" to! I have a detailed forum post at WLC, if anyone is interested.
Blog blitz and celebrate the small things are both great. I also took part in the Express Yourself hop this past week and the one before.
I love hops! I love making new friends and connections, and seeing new comments on my own blog. They are a social, and marketing, dream come true.
What a group of talented people you all are! I love the Blog Blitz concept!!!
