The owls one is slightly creepy! I can't believe it's almost April already :)
ReplyDeleteI love love love your writing, Hilary. Great job. My favorite (I think) is Vagary of Impediments. You're a word master--you are.

Oh, so you're the mastermind behind this A-Z challenge I see everywhere! I did actually sign up though find it daunting; I only blog once a week as I really revise each post before posting. I am not fond of off the cuff posting but am fond of inspiration! Here's hoping! Thanks for reading my post and following. Following you back.
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of a Pochard! I'm just googling them, so nice!
ReplyDeleteA flink of cows!! (This learned from the side of a Snapple bottle while teaching 4th graders about collective nouns)
ReplyDeleteHilary is a wonderful writer and blogger friend. I'm so excited that she signed up again for the A to Z. Can't wait to enjoy her educational and insightful post!
ReplyDeleteLove to you, Hilary!

ReplyDeleteSuch fun words... a helpful list which will trigger ideas...
ReplyDeleteThis was excellent Hilary, I too have wondered about the juggling.
ReplyDeleteWonderful concept. Thanks for sharing.
Yvonne.
I like this, especially Dole of Doves and Murder of Crows. It's funny how they are complete opposites yet both of my faves from this list. Or, maybe it's odd and indicates that I am unbalanced in some way, shape or form, lol.

That was awesome. I've always been fascinated with how those "herd" names came about. Worth digging into, but for me, AFTER the challenge ;-)

I've always liked the phrase "gaggle of geese." Or gaggle of girls, I guess... The giggly girls gossip in gaggles.

I was enjoying reading your list wondering what your "X" would be!
ReplyDeleteDuncan In Kuantan
Great list, Hilary. I quite like an army of ants, and a clowder of cats.
ReplyDeleteX was easy for me because I just had to find an animal with an X starting scientific name.
ReplyDeleteClowder of cats, yes!

Hilary, great list! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWanton Wannabees
ReplyDeleteLots of great ideas here Hilary! I also like Delores' "Wanton Wannabees." Excuse me, I have some writing to do. Julie
ReplyDeleteWonderful Hilary - I've been really enjoying letting my creative juice run freely this year...at times I find myself laughing at the words I have discovered along the way.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Jenny @ PEARSON REPORT

A Kindle of kittens is cute. How about an extravagance of oxen. Cheating a bit I know but hey!
ReplyDeleteBoy, seeing a bunch of elk together sure is like seeing a gang! Love this post!
