10 GETTING TO KNOW YOU QUESTIONS
1. What is the most daring thing you've ever done?
At our company gathering last year I got up in front of 50+ executives and informed them all that in my spare time I was a WRITER!
2. What is your favorite article of clothing? I have this one hat the I wear backwards when I'm writing.
3. What is your favorite monster? The xenomorph from the Alien movies.
4. If you had to dress up as your favorite literary character, who would it be? Sherlock Holmes. Big surprise, given that I write mysteries.
5. What is your favorite fairy tale, urban legend or nursery rhyme?
-
- Lizzie Borden took an axe
- And gave her mother forty whacks.
- When she saw what she had done
- She gave her father forty-one.
7. What's the strangest item you've used as a bookmark? A cocktail straw.
8. Do you have any nicknames? What are they and how did you earn them? On-line I've used Misbehaving and Imposter for user ID's, but in the real world I've been hung with the moniker of Bone. It's genesis comes from Hammons....Hambone....Bone. :)
9. Name one habit you want to change in yourself: I'd like to be less introverted, but that's not going to happen.
10. Tell us something interesting or shocking about yourself: I'm a military brat, so I really don't have a hometown. I lost my last baby-tooth at the age of 53. I have no sense of smell...never have. And yes...I can still taste.
SOME A-to-Z QUESTIONS
1. What was your favorite A-to-Z post from 2011? I'm an A to Z virgin.
2. What brought you to the A-to-Z originally? Tell us about your first A-to-Z: I was brought into the fold by Arlee, who offered me this opportunity to "change my stars". (Any Knights Tale fans out there?) Part of my changing things up for 2012 was to make it uncomfortable in my comfort zone...and I think this qualifies.
3. Are you doing a theme? Nope...I'm winging it, but most of my posts will be about letting my readers get to know me better.
4. Are you writing & scheduling posts in advance? About half of them are written and scheduled.
5. What is your favorite letter of the alphabet, and why? What letter do you like least? I have three of them actually. L...S...U Geaux Tigers!
I hope you've enjoyed these questions and answers. Don't forget, you are welcome, even encouraged, to ask any additional questions you might have in the comments section. Or feel free to answer the questions yourself! We won't tell.

Great to "meet" you, DL. Keep up the writing and thanks for all you've done to help promote A to Z!
The best thing about these posts is being able to quickly make sure I'm following you everywhere. I had to add DL to a couple extra circles at G+.
You don't look old enough to have lost a tooth at 53. Is that an old picture? If not, I want some of that magic potion please! :)
Great getting to know you DL!
And good for you - standing up in public and declaring your writerly-status!!
About the age-thinggie... sure you didn't make a typo? 53? 35? something in-between?
It's been fun learning all of these interesting facts about the co-hosts. I've been seeing a number of bloggers with transient childhoods. I wonder if that has something to do with writing?

I'm with Anna...you look pretty young in that picture. I'd like to see something more recent please, preferably with your hat on backwards and a bone in your teeth. Seriously, very nice to meet you.
Lizzie Borden... you got the trifecta. Brilliant... glad to know you... I need the reaction you got in the daring question number one.

Hey DL
I'm a military brat as well, so no home town for me either!
Great answers but old people like me have a hard time reading a font that small. lol BTW, I live near Fall River and plan to visit the Lizzie Borden home once it gets a little warmer out.
Good to know a little more about you, D.L.
You are pretty brave to "wing" and host the challenge! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Hey DL, telling over 50 executives that you are a writer qualifies as a step towards changing that introverted habit, in my book. Without a hometown, I'm guessing that backwards hat displays the logo of your favorite sports team, yes? or no?
Having no sense of smell can be a great advantage in many-an-environment where unpleasing elements lurk such as foul breath, body gases, horse and cow farmlands and trash truck routes taken by the local sanitation department. ;)

Awesome to get to know you better! I've really enjoyed that we are letting our readers (and each other) get to know some fun stuff about us! I'm with the other commenters. That picture is not of a 53 year-old...

I did A-Z last year in wing-it fashion and enjoyed it a whole bunch. I'll be going that route again this time around, too.
Writing a good portion of the posts ahead? I should have probably considered that. Last time, I wrote one day ahead and scheduled my posts to go live early each morning. Maybe I'll write a quick handful this week so I have a little cushion.
I don't think I'd be able to do the A to Z winging it.
I used to work with someone named Hambone. Wasn't his given name either but it fit.
If you're a military brat, how can you 'follow your feet home?'
That was very brave of you to announce you're a writer.
It's funny how hard it is to admit you're a writer. I always expect someone to challenge me. Speaking of Lizzie Borden, her lawyer's journals were discovered recently. I'd love to hear what's in them.
Great post getting to know you. It's almost April! I'm so excited.
So I guess you may use 'xenomorph' for your X post?!

Hi DL!
I started writing my posts early and had a theme, but I've given up. Or maybe not. I'm undecided about the theme thing.
Thank you for all the kind comments everyone! As far as the picture goes...it was taken five years ago when I just turned 51. My hairline has receded some and my inability to say no to deep dish pizza has made my face a little rounder, but I pretty much look the same (just don't have an more recent picture). What can I say, I have great genes. It was a real pain when I was younger. I was getting carded in bars well into my 30's.
A to Z...here we come!! :)
Great to get to know you better DL!
