How to save a post for a later date and time

I remember how tickled I was when I found out how to save a post for a later date and time.
This is how it’s done, using the “old” Blogger interface.
Write a post.
Decide on the date and time of posting.
Click on Post Option.
Select the Schedule at option.
Then go ahead and set the date and time.

When you are finished setting the date and time you MUST press the PUBLISH POST button to save it as “Scheduled” to your post listings.
If you go back and edit this post, you MUST press the PUBLISH POST otherwise it will be saved as a draft.

Finally, this is how it will look in your Posting List. Note the difference!

I hope you find this helpful - if you need further assistance you can visit me HERE and leave me a note; you can also leave your questions here in the comment section...either way, I’ll be happy to help you out!

  1. Or if you are using the upgraded Blogger, it appears to the far right of the post when you are composing it.

  5. The scheduled post options in Blogger are among the features that I use often and was glad to notice it was available some time ago.

Before then, I use to use a third-party service called Letter Me Later to schedule my Blogger posts, but my posts didn't always look the way I wanted them too once they were published. That's the good thing about the post options from within Blogger...we can also preview our posts, allowing us to check out how it looks before it is published.

It is a feature that will be useful to many A to Z bloggers who are planning their posts in advance.

  6. Alex J. Cavanaugh - It probably would have been handy to add a snapshot of how the “upgraded” interface looks - but I figured it might be information overload; thanks for adding it in your comment.

Tony Van Helsing - Me too! When I learn something new I’m compelled to share it; hopefully making blogging easier for everyone.

Lisa - Glad to be of help!

welcome to my world of poetry - Hi Yvonne, thanks for stopping by!

Nicole - I found out about this through my co-hosting role, and when I find something useful, to help with my blogging experience, I like to share it! I feel less pressure to “watch the clock” when I want a post to show up at a specific date and time now...before I would set reminders and write little stick’em notes - drove me crazy!

  11. Marta - That was my problem too...I thought I was saving it, but it always went to draft until I pressed Publish. I was afraid if I pressed Publish it would become a post right away, so I never did. Glad you found this helpful too.

Alana - Lee’s the master...that’s for sure; I’m learning so much from him through my co-hosting duties, and this trick sure makes life easier.

  12. Thanks so much! I had been trying to do this but I was hitting "Save" instead of "Publish". It looks like it is going to work this time. I'm practicing before the big day :)
Don't forget to come see me here on Monday

  14. Didn't know this feature existed. Could be very useful, thanks!

  15. Heather Murphy - Glad to help! It’s too bad Blogger doesn’t offer “help” right beside these areas on their site...it would eliminate a lot of frustration. I was hitting Save, that seemed logical - but when I found out you needed to Publish a prescheduled post I finally got it. (I’m a bit slow on the uptake!!) :)

Arlee Bird - Dear Lee...thank you for dropping by and adding your smile to the mix. It’s due to your help I am learning so much! So...thank you!

Monica - I like to think of blogging as my free puzzle - I’m always learning where the pieces fit, like this tip, posted here! I hope you found it helpful!

InfinitePlans - Thanks for stopping by - I hope you have a chance to use this feature, it is a time save for sure!
